PorchOps vs Butter Payments
Fully-managed, done-for-you recovery on a revenue share.
Butter is a fully-managed, done-for-you failed-payment recovery service: machine-learning retry optimization and a recoverability score, run for you. There is no software the operator touches.

What each one costs.
Performance-based revenue share, a small percentage of the revenue on each recovered invoice, customized per client after a payment-health analysis. Billed only on recovered revenue.
Butter publishes no percentage, flat fee, or minimum; the price is set per client through a sales conversation, so we cannot print one.
PorchOps is $47/mo (Growth), published, no sales call.
Butter Payments pricing, checked 2026-08-28The model is the difference.
- Butter is fully managed and sales-led; PorchOps is self-serve, flat-priced, and operator-in-the-loop (you approve the drafts).
- Butter takes a cut of every recovered dollar for as long as you use it; PorchOps is a flat subscription regardless of what it recovers.
- Lou is a named agent, one of five (Lou, Frankie, Hank, Dale, Inky), not a single-purpose dunning feature. Recovery is the wedge, not the ceiling.
- Drafts by default: Lou writes context-aware, per-customer recovery copy that you approve before it sends. The dunning tools send templated merge-field email automatically, with no operator in the loop.
- Flat, published price. No sales call to find out what it costs.
When to pick them instead.
Pick Butter if you want zero operator involvement: a hands-off service that only bills when it recovers money, and you are a large enough subscription or e-commerce business for a revenue-share vendor to take you on. Pay-only-on-results with no software to run is a real preference, and Butter is built for it.
PorchOps is pre-launch and Stripe-first at launch, and we do not publish a recovery rate because we do not have a proven one yet. If you need a billing stack beyond Stripe today, or a track record of recovered dollars, that is a real reason to look elsewhere.
